Breeding Bird Survey - Transect routes with 20 point counts, 5 minutes each on semi-random 10-km squares (n = 470 in 2005, 890 volunteers in 2006), from 1996 to present.
Winter Bird Survey – Transect routes in winter from 1976 to 1977.
Breeding Nocturnal Bird Survey - Transect routes with 4 point counts, 50 minutes each on 10-km squares (n = 135 in 2005), from 1998 to 2004 (ca. 80/year).

Census period: 1998-2002. Method: Breeding criteria in 10 x 10 km squares. Some species counted in specific censuses and monitoring through working groups (most threatened species). Maps of relative abundance generated from semi-quantitative information from the observers. Atlas published in 2004 (Marti, R. & Del Moral, J. C. 2004).

A new wintering bird atlas is planned for 2007/8-2012, with pilot work started in 2006.
A new wintering bird survey is planned for 2006/7-future. This will provide quantitative data for the future Spanish Atlas of Wintering Birds.
